The GAUTENG SOUTH CHESS ASSOCIATION is a Chess Union affiliated to Chess South Africa (CHESSA) which is the representative chess body controlled by FIDE and the controlling body for chess in South Africa.

The GAUTENG SOUTH SCHOOL'S CHESS CLUB is an autonomous Chess Club which operates as the training vehicle for chess playing schools in the region administered by Gauteng South Chess Association.  

The JOHANNESBURG CHESS CLUB is one of the oldest chess clubs in South Africa and  is the Chess Club of Gauteng South Chess Association. It meets at Houghton Primary School on Tuesday evenings at 19h30 for regular chess activity and coaching for individuals and squads after teams have been selected.
